Harmonic Security Raises $50 Million for Workforce AI Protection

Workforce AI security startup Harmonic Security today announced raising $50 million in a Series B funding round that brings the total raised by the company to $76 million.

Founded in 2023 by Alastair Paterson (CEO) and Bryan Woolgar-O’Neil (CTO), who previously founded Digital Shadows (acquired by ReliaQuest), Harmonic built a platform that secures AI tools for employees.

The solution covers browser-based AI, desktop AI tools, and agentic workflows to classify every AI task, identify its use, and provide real-time control over it.

Harmonic’s expanded coverage exposes risks such as personal-account use and sensitive data exposure, among others.

The startup uses small language models to read each AI interaction in context, enabling organizations to categorize tasks, understand emerging use cases, and apply controls.

Harmonic’s Usage Intelligence layer, which offers visibility into the AI use cases that create value and improve employee workflows, uses the same engine.

The fresh investment round was led by Crosspoint Capital Partners, with additional support from existing investors, and will help Harmonic expand its engineering and go-to-market teams in the US and UK.

“Every board I talk to is asking two questions: how do we reduce the risk of AI use, and are we getting value? Most vendors struggle to answer the first, yet we address both. From the very start, we doubled down on our custom small language models, which means we can benefit from a unique insight into enterprise AI use,” said Paterson.
